** In order to raise more awareness about HIV/AIDS and with hopes of creating an AIDS-free generation, a spanking new social-media campaign has begun to show tweets on a Times Square billboard as part of an interactive art installation in midtown Manhattan.
Whenever you send a tweet with the hashtag #ArchesofHope, your tweet will automatically be in the running to be part of an LED ticker tape as seen above, where it will subsequently be beamed onto jumbo screens located in Times Square. This campaign is a collaboration between Lifebeat and the MTV Staying Alive Foundation.
**On Friday, a planned protest is set for 4:30 p.m by The Westboro Baptist Church. They plans to take their offensive picketing techniques to Times Square. According to the groups website “people care more about the almighty dollar than the Almighty God. New York also represents fag central. Millions of fags and their enablers proudly promote their filth in and around Times Square. WBC will shed some Gospel light on that mess.”
Already, counter protests have been organized to block the group.
**Selena Gomez thanked her fans, who waited for the star in nearly freezing temperatures, outside her UNICEF charity concert in New York City on Saturday at the Best Buy Theater. The charity concert is the pop star’s third annual, benefiting the worldwide children’s charity UNICEF. ‘Nothing is more important than helping children in need around the globe,’ she said about her charity work.
‘I’m thankful that I can use my voice to bring awareness and much-needed funds to UNICEF so they can continue their critical work. Together, with my fans, we can save lives.’
