Veterans Day; What’s Closed Monday

Sunday, November 11th,  is Veterans Day. Monday, November 12th, is Veterans Day observed.

Government offices, including the Department of Motor Vehicles, are closed. Courts are also closed. There is no mail delivery.

All New York City public schools are closed.

Alternate side parking is suspended. All other regulations, including parking meters, remain in effect.

The City will be making scheduled garbage and recycling collections. As the City also continues to clean up hurricane debris, you may experience service delays. The City is not accepting missed garbage or recycling collection reports until operations have been fully restored to normal.

All branches in the New York (Manhattan, Bronx, Staten Island), Brooklyn, and Queens library systems are closed.

Why not visit the Intrepid museum this Veterans Day. This World War II carrier was  returned to its Hudson River site after a 19-month, $120 million overhaul that added more planes to its aircraft collection and updated its museum displays.

Veterans Day is celebrated on Nov. 11 in honor of the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I – at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 1918.
