Tornadoes in New York State? With This Weather it Seems More Like Kansas

The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado struck a beachfront neighborhood in New York City. A funnel cloud moved through the Breezy Point section of the Rockaway in Queens. The National Weather Service has also issued a tornado watch for Long Island and the NYC area which started at at 11:20 a.m., and is in effect until 10 p.m. tonight. A tornado watch means Atmospheric conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes. As the sky remains blue it is hard to believe that severe weather is predicted.

Western and Central Connecticut, Northern Delaware, Western and Central Massachusetts, Northeastern Maryland, Southwestern New Hampshire, New Jersey, Central and Eastern New York, Eastern Pennsylvania, and Central and Southern Vermont are all under alert.
