Tony Danza filled in for Barbara Cook for two nights of a month long Michael Feinstein/Barbara Cook engagement at Feinstein’s while Ms. Cook attended the Kennedy Center in Washington. Michael could not have found a better partner to fill the bill. Tony Danza lit up the room with his charm, talent and warm personality. He is a multi-talented entertainer. He seems to be enjoying every minute he is on stage singing, dancing, rapping and telling jokes. In many ways he reminds me of Louis Prima who was a high energy performer who also enjoyed himself while he performed. Michael Feinstein opened the evening with his elegant style singing from the Great American Songbook. When he sat down to accompany himself singing “My Favorite Year” the audience was mesmerized by the beauty of his interpretation. Michael later returned to sing and kid around with Tony. They were outstanding together. It was one of those special evenings in New York when one feels lucky to be in the room.
