Today Kicks Off National Down Syndrome Awareness Month

 Jacob Vader, of Escanaba, Michigan is the son of Len and Cindy Vader. He also has Down Syndrome and is one of the 200 faces that the cross worlds of the world is promoting. He is the happy poster child for the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) annual Times Square Video Presentation. NDSS,  mission is to promote the value, acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome.

Jacob, was selected from over 1,000 entries of people with Down Syndrome. More than 200 photographs will appear in the video, which will be shown on the News Corporation Sony Screen, located in the heart of Times Square.

The Times Square video kicks off Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October and is followed by the 18th Annual New York City Buddy Walk in Central Park.

Today more than 2,000 people, including individuals with Down syndrome and their families and friends, walked a one mile course. This was the 18th Annual New York City Buddy Walk which took place at the Great Hill in Central Park, which is located at 106th Street and Central Park West.
