From the moment I saw Mike Daisey’s “The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs,” I stated;”This latest solo piece by Daisey, is a rant on how Steve Jobs should have spoken out about how his products were made in Shenzhen, China. Daisey, a hardcore technology Apple geek visited Foxconn, and “got the shock of his life” when he witnessed the work conditions. He then states that there were articles, but they got suppressed. That is not true! I am enclosing articles that I found after a quick google search.” (see full article here published October 21, 2011: http://t2conline.com/?p=6146) and his lies continued.
I was so right, but everybody was on the Mike Daisy gravy train. His podcast boasted 888,000 hits.
The story seemed great, compelling and perfect human narrative, but as I sat and listened I knew it was a lie, googled and was right.
Today, Ira Glass, host of This American Life, published a retraction. “I suspect that many things that Mike Daisey claims to have experienced personally did not actually happen, but listeners can judge for themselves.” Glass’s next show will point out the falsehoods in the story.
Daisey has apologized to the listeners who felt misled but like he was on stage, he is still so full of himself and only admits to half truths.
Hello! The emperor is obviously naked.
