Last night a photo shopped version appeared on Melissa Stetten twitter to announce her win, but it turns out to have been a fake. Melissa is the girl friend of Anthony Cumia of the Opie and Andy the radio show. Guess she thought it would be funny, turns out it backfired and we got a call this morning to tell us the fact. Winning tickets were confirmed in Maryland, Illinois and Kansas according to lottery officials.
The winning Illinois ticket was a quick pick sold at the Moto Mart in Red Bud, Illinois, according to the Illinois lottery. The winning Maryland ticket was sold at a 7-Eleven store in Baltimore County, the Maryland Lottery said Saturday. And the Kansas ticket was sold in the northeastern part of the state, according to the Kansas State Lottery website.
The payoff will be split, a pre-tax, lump sum worth $462 million. Nearly $1.5 billion was spent for a chance at a dream. TV talk shows, social media sites, office water coolers and just about every where was filled with conversations and quips about how the winnings would be spent.
The pot for this Mega Millions has been looking for a winner 18 times since late January. With the Mega Ball being in the list it is possible that this may continue . The only states you can’t play the Mega Millions in are Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Mississippi, Alabama Alaska and Florida.
The odds of winning are 1 in 176 million.
