Caroline Sorokoff, Associate Director of the Great Neck Arts Center and the Gold Coast International Film Festival, has announced that KT Sullivan, United States Congressman Gary Ackerman, author Nelson DeMille and local arts philanthropist Michael Lamoretti will be honored at their 2012 Gala which will be held Oct. 24th at Oheka Castle on Long Island, one of the original Gold Coast mansions, originally commissioned by Otto Kahn.
The Arts Center was founded by Regina Gil 18 years ago and serves tens of thousands of people each year throughout the region through its School for the Arts, free public art gallery, year-round film programs and concert and lecture series. The Gala raises funds for the Arts Center’s numerous community outreach efforts and is also the kick-off of the second edition of the Arts Center’s latest venture, the Gold Coast International Film Festival, a week of exciting film screenings, events, workshops and parties scheduled for October 22-28. Past Gala honorees have included Broadway Stars Kelli O’Hara, Melissa Errico, Trent Kowalik from Billy Elliot, and Savion Glover. Visual Artists James Rosenquist, Oleg Cassini and Bob Gruen have also been honorees. KT Sullivan has taken the reigns of the Mabel Mercer Foundation after the death of Donald Smith and will host the Cabaret Convention at Lincoln Center in October. She will also perform at this year’s Great Neck Gala. For more information about the Gala or the Film Festival visit www.greatneckarts.org or www.goldcoastfilmfestival.org
