Movie stars are often inspired by real life stories. Johnny Depp recently showed his support at a book talk with Damien Echols and his new novel Life After Death.
A lucky 300 attendants in the select audience at Barnes & Noble Union Square listened to Depp and the accused ring leader of The West Memphis Three speak about his time spent in prison.
In 1993 then-teenagers Echols, Jessie Misskelley, Jr. and Jason Baldwin were wrongfully accused of murdering 8-year-old boys in Arkansas. All three men were released in August 2011
“I would be dead today if it were not for these people helping me,” stated Echols in reference to Depp and multiple public figures who rallied to support him and the two other men.
The hour-long question and answer session was followed by nearly 700 books being signed for members of the audience and a stand-by line that wrapped the block of the store.
The Times Square Chronicles' intent is to bring a sense of community to the Times Square's three zip codes - 10018, 10019, 10036 and beyond.
