Beginning at approximately 9 p.m., Macy’s will release fireworks from six barges between 20th Street and 55th Street in the Hudson River. This year’s theme is “Ignite the Night.”
Celebrating the nation’s 236th birthday extravaganza will be chart-topping superstars Katy Perry and Kenny Chesney. Pery’s new film 3D film, Katy Perry: Part Of Me, will be released in theaters July 5th and Chesney’s latest album, “Welcome to the Fishbowl,” drops June 19.
The winner of Macy’s Star Spangled Sing-Off, Macy’s version of star search is Kory Leigh Glattman! Kory just recorded a new version of the national anthem for the score of the Macy’s Fireworks with the help of vocal mentor, Miss America 2012 Laura Kaeppeler, and Macy’s creative team. The newly recorded version of the anthem will be added to the final fireworks score to which the show is designed and synchronized. The music will be performed in sync with the fireworks and can be heard on 1010 WINS. If you’re not in the area, NBC will broadcast the fireworks live beginning at 9 p.m. EST.
