New York City is the cutting edge capital of fashion, and this season’s runway proved to be no different with the introduction of the Spring Collection.
The semi-annual Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week had an outstanding impact on the catwalk this year.
Clothing standouts included Zang Toi and his romantic French Rivera themed outfits, Cesar Galindo’s futuristic impressions, Cynthia Rowley’s over the top fantasy party dresses and the flirtatious fun of Houghton. And a special recognition went to celebrity designer Nicole Richie, for her launch at Macy’s.
“It has been pretty amazing to open and close Fashion Week,” said Texas-born designer Galindo. “All designers work hard for a moment like this.”
The outstanding best shoes of the season went to designer Andrew Kayla featured at the Katya Leonovich show with a collection of dual tone heels. Kudos for the glitzy specialties of the fabulous Ivy Kirzhner.
And, of course, Fashion Week would not be the coveted event it is without the gifting suites and parties. Fantastic moments were experienced at the BWR Kick Off Your Heels and Get Glam Lounge, the GQ/Diet Coke Blogger Lounge, as well as the over-the-top mini-size gifting at Birchbox.
But, perhaps one of the best moments was actually a look back at the past of fashion with the retrospective collection at Betsey Johnson’s 70th birthday bash, with a special performance by the legendary Cyndi Lauper.
During Fashion Week this year girls – and guys – had tons of fun over and over again.
