Israel model Bar Rafaeli, former flame of Leonardo Dicaprio, topped the list as the #1 MAXIM hottie. When asked about her new title, Rafaeli said, “she was honored.”
According to the MAXIM’s Editor-in-Chief, Dan Bova, Rafaeli is a surprising choice but still embodies past favorites. Bova explained that over the years, the list has shown a lot of diversity, but that all the MAXIM number 1s were beautiful, sexy, had a great sense of adventure and were like a guy’s guy (sociable, sporty with a good sense of humor.) View the list here.
When describing the list makers, Bova said, “These women would eat chips with dip either in a bar or at home watching the game,” says Bova.
Not a surprising comment from Bova when one of the party’s sponsors was Ruffles®, promoting their new Ultimate Chips, targeted specifically for men. When asked why Ruffles® sponsored the MAXIM Hot 100 List party, Rachel Snyder of Ketchum Sports and Entertainment, the publicist for Ruffles®, noted that “the new Ultimate Chips have ridges that are twice the size and depth of the ridges in their original Ruffles Potato Chips, and come in flavors like Sweet & Smokin’ BBQ and Kickin’ Jalapeno Ranch. And, guys like hot chips and hot chicks.”
Moreover, not everyone on the list was a hot chick. This year, the first man landed on the list. TV’s Stephen Colbert ranked at No. 69 due the voting turn-out of Colbert Nation,” Bova says. “As we say: Democracy isn’t pretty, but this time, it was downright handsome.”
Other interesting choices included: Amanda Knox (exchange student who made headlines for being accused of the murder of her roommate) came in at number 92 on the list; Family Guy cartoon character Lois Griffin was number 85; and Pippa Middleton (sister of the Duchess of Cambridge) ranked 81.
While at the Hot 100 party, I spied Abby Elliott, April Rose, Rebecca Mader, Chaske Spencer, Chiddy Bang, David Banner, Melanie Fiona, Paula Graces, Lance Bass and brothers Maksim and Val Chmerkovskiy. The Times Square Chronicles' intent is to bring a sense of community to the Times Square's three zip codes - 10018, 10019, 10036 and beyond.
