CABARET Column – May/June

Lorinda

Lots of excitement around the corner with the opening of a new Manhattan night spot 54 Below, on West 54th Street below the Roundabout Theatre. Many top name Broadway performers are scheduled in addition to some of cabaret’s finest. Here’s a sampling:  June 5 – 16 Patti Lupone. The “Green Room” will present a series of late night duos and trios including Sean Harkness,  Barry Levitt,  Mondays: Mx Justin Vivian Bond; Sundays: Jackie Hoffman. Look for Rebecca Luker, Andrea McArdle, Brian d’Arcy James, Ben Vereen, Jenifer Lewis, Jamie deRoy & Friends, Lea DeLaria, Victor Garber, Hilary Kole, Marin Mazzie, Christine Ebersole, Linda Lavin, Ann Hampton Callaway – - Sure to be the new most talked about spot in town!

What’s happening all over . . . I’ll tell you what’s happening all over . . .

Sheera Ben-David , the daughter and sister of accomplished musicians, is bringing her latest show “After The Rain” to Feinstein’s. This talented singer is dramatic and expressive and very down to earth.

Jennifer Sheehan is already a multi-award recipient and is bringing her new ‘60s show “I Know A Place” to Feinstein’s. She captures the essence of a star on the rise with her vocal talent and performance know-how.

Don’t be fooled when you are at the Metropolitan Room and being served by Lorinda Lisitza. She’s one of the best singers around. A winner of a Nightlife Award for Outstanding Performance in Cabaret Musical Comedy, as well as a Bistro Award, she is debuting her latest show “Triumphant Baby:The Songs of Iconis & Maddock” at that venue.

Steve Tyrell is a Grammy Award-winning vocalist and truly a renaissance man. In his four and a half decades in the music business, he has achieved great success as an artist, producer, songwriter, music supervisor, and performer and returns to the beautiful Café Carlyle.
