Anderson Cooper is Out of the Closet

“The fact is, I’m gay, always have been, always will be, and I couldn’t be any more happy, comfortable with myself, and proud.”

Anderson Copper is out and proud and why not? They celebrated gay pride at the pentagon, so why shouldn’t Cooper, a popular CNN newsman and talk show host. Those in the know always knew Cooper was gay. I personally used to see him at the cinema on 14th street, The Hamptons and at the backstage of a “Normal Heart,” with his companion. The statement above is from Cooper and was confirmed in an email, to his friend Andrew Sullivan, the known gay Daily Beast columnist. Cooper’s own representative confirmed that the email was authentic.

Sullivan has said; “It is important to be “on the record” and set an example for others, especially bullied gay kids. We still have pastors calling for the death of gay people, bullying incidents and suicides among gay kids, and one major political party dedicated to ending the basic civil right to marry the person you love. So these ‘non-events’ are still also events of a kind; and they matter. The visibility of gay people is one of the core means for our equality.”

As for Cooper he has said; “For my safety and the safety of those I work with, I try to blend in as much as possible, and prefer to stick to my job of telling other people’s stories, and not my own.”

I personally think the day for equality will arise when we stop caring who somebody sleeps with.
