Amanda McBroom with George Ball and Michele Brourman – Brel in the Berkshires

“My View” written by Stephen Sorokoff

Somewhere between a Cabaret Show, a Broadway Show, and a Concert, resides another entertainment experience.  Amanda McBroom and George Ball together with Michele Brourman and Jacques Brel create an evening of excellence that is worthy of all three classifications.

Take the impassioned music of Brel, have it acted and sung by  one of the great cabaret performers of our time, add the rich voice and acting of her husband George Ball, wrap it in the piano creations of Michele Brourman and we’re talking spellbinding.   Towards the end of the evening as Amanda sings “If You Go Away,” your emotions have been taken on an exceptional musical ride.  After the “official” Brel show is over, this Grammy winner then sings that little tune she wrote “The Rose” as an encore.  Amanda’s songs have been recorded by Bette Midler, Leanne Rimes, Barry Manilow, Judy Collins, Barbara Cook, Ann Murray, Harry Belafonte, Betty Buckley, Stephanie Mills, the Manhattan Transfer, Donny Osmond, and The Chipmunks!

However, there is that certain special something that only the composer can bring to the performance.

Barrington Stage Company has once again supplied their Berkshire audience with a memorable evening.
