In years to come, anyone who sees this show will be saying “I was at the Marilyn Maye & Michael Feinstein show in 2012.” I have a few of those in my Night Club memory bank. Sammy, Bobby at the Copa, Jack at the Persian Room, Bette Midler at the Copa, Oscar Petterson at Birdland and Buddy Greco at Cafe Caryle. This is a match made in music and entertainment heaven. Every song is electrifying. Having been back on several occasions, I can also tell you that these professionals surprise each other every night and interject different material in each show. Their spontaneous comedy and conversations take you back to the times when show business was glamorous and exciting. The musicianship is at a level rarely achieved. Enough can’t be said about Marilyn Maye’s strong, powerful, and swinging vocals. Michael has become a truly great stand up singer and together with his quick wit and charming personality is one of the foremost entertainers of our era. His pianistic ability ain’t too shabby either!
Most people leaving Feinstein’s after this historic event were commenting…..”This should be a Broadway Show!” I hope it doesn’t end with this current engagement.
Feinstein’s at the Loews Regency thru Sept. 22nd 212 339-4095
